India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in their third match of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in Ahmedabad, maintaining their unbeaten record against their rivals in the tournament.
Rohit Sharma was the star of the show for India, scoring an 86-ball 86 to help his team chase down Pakistan’s total of 169 with ease. Shreyas Iyer also played a key role, scoring a 52-ball 54.
Pakistan got off to a good start with the bat, thanks to a 76-run opening partnership between Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman. However, they lost wickets in quick succession after that, and were eventually bowled out for 169 in 43.4 overs.
India’s bowlers were in top form, with Jasprit Bumrah taking four wickets and Mohammed Shami taking three.
In the chase, India lost their openers early, but Rohit and Iyer steadied the ship with a 114-run partnership for the third wicket. Rohit was eventually dismissed for 86, but Iyer continued to score freely, and reached his half-century before being dismissed in the 40th over.
With India needing just 16 runs to win, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya finished the game off in style, with Pant hitting the winning boundary in the 41st over.
Here are some of the highlights of the match:
- Rohit Sharma’s 86-ball 86, which was laced with 10 fours and two sixes.
