Dimitri Frenkel Frank (born Dimitrij Georg Frenkel; 1 April 1928 – 18 October 1988) was a Dutch actor, reviewer, film director, playwright, screenwriter, and novelist.
Frenkel Frank was born in Munich, Germany, to Dutch parents. His father, a Jewish violinist, was forced to flee Nazi Germany in 1933. The family settled in the Netherlands, where Frenkel Frank grew up.
After studying law, Frenkel Frank worked as an actor, reviewer, and journalist. In the 1950s, he began writing for television and film. He is best known for his work on the Dutch television series “Cursief” and the Dutch film ” Private Resistance”.
Frenkel Frank was also a successful playwright and novelist. His plays include “Roger’s Last Stand” and “De Boezemvriend”. His novels include “Hoge hakken, echte liefde” and “De kleinste hond ter wereld en andere eigentijdse ongemakken”.
Frenkel Frank died in Hilversum, the Netherlands, in 1988, at the age of 60. He is considered one of the most important Dutch writers of the 20th century.
